On Thursday, November 19, 2020, the Senate Speaker, Right Honorable Emmanuel Sinzohagera, met local representatives and heads of decentralized services of Ngozi and Ruhororo communes, to discuss the socio-economic development of those administrative entities.
Right Honorable Sinzohagera, in his message, thanked the population for having participated massively in the 2020 elections and took this opportunity to congratulate the elect.
The Senate Speaker also thanked the population for having preserved peace and security.
In addition, the Speaker of the Upper House of Parliament advised them to adhere to cooperatives in order to implement the Government’s policy encouraging Burundians to self-develop.
Right Honorable Sinzohagera also advised them to make good use of the funds that the same Government granted them. “This is the Commune’s heritage,” he said.
He also invited young people and women to plan development projects in order to get credits.
Right Honorable Sinzohagera urged them to protect the environment, build village representatives’ offices and fight against prohibited drinks, cohabitation and Covid-19.
Right Honorable Sinzohagera also advised them to keep the legacy of His Excellency the late President Pierre Nkurunziza regarding love of neighbour.
He asked local representatives to serve well the population and to hold meetings once a month with them to discuss all issues related to development projects.
The Senate Speaker indicated that any lawyer who will unfairly resolve the trial will be punished according to the law and that soon there will be restoration of customary law in order to resolve disputes in villages.
In their requests, participants in those meetings asked in particular for electricity, the rehabilitation of certain road infrastructures, the supply of drinking water, teachers and desks for schools, the availability of drugs for civil servants who contribute to the Health Insurance Company for Civil Servants, etc.
The Governor of Ngozi province and some parliamentarians elected in that constituency participated in those meetings.
