In the morning of Friday January 08, 2021, at Lycée Scheppers of Nyakabiga in Bujumbura city, the Senate Speaker, Right Honorable Emmanuel SINZOHAGERA, accompanied with his two Deputy-Speakers and senior executives of that Institution, held a meeting for local representatives of the population and administrative officials from communes of Bujumbura City to discuss the issues related to security and socio-economic development.
During that meeting, Right Honorable Emmanuel SINZOHAGERA called on local representatives of the population and administrative officials to raise the population awareness about security building; fighting against poverty, Covid-19, fraud, corruption; paying taxes; joining development cooperatives; helping young people to developing projects that can be financed by the Youth Investment Bank (BIJE); building offices for representatives of the population to the quarter level, etc.
During the general discussions and debates, participants raised problems caused by itinerant trade, insalubrity, the problem of road traffic, the non-payment of attendance fees for local representatives of the population, the lack and insufficient water and electricity, dilapidated road infrastructure, and many others.
