The Right Honourable Emmanuel Sinzohagera, Speaker of the Senate, accompanied by his delegation and the Ambassador of the Republic of Burundi to the People’s Republic of China, met His Excellency Yang Wanming, President of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC).
Their conversation focused on strengthening the friendship and cooperation relations existing between Burundi and the People’s Republic of China. His Excellency Yang Wanming stressed the importance that Burundi attaches to the development of its bilateral relations.
For his part, the Right Honourable Sinzohagera expressed his gratitude to the President of the CPAFFC for the warm welcome extended to him and his delegation. He said that Burundi aims to become an emerging country by 2040 and a developed country by 2060, adding that it needs the support from its loyal partners, such as the People’s Republic of China, to achieve this vision.
The President of the CPAFFC welcome the innovative ideas of the Senate Speaker in terms of cooperation and added that Burundi is an important contributor to the forum on China-Africa cooperation. He said that the CPAFFC wishes to give new impetus to the existing bilateral relations between Burundi and China, by turning towards South-South cooperation, an axis which the entire world should prioritize.
The Speaker of Burundi Senate and his delegation also attended a gala dinner organized in honour of the eminent guests attending the international conference of friendly cities of China. Participants got the opportunity to discover an exhibition highlighting the cultural and agricultural wealth of Yunnan, thus illustrating the cultural diversity of this province.
