The Senate Speaker receives in audience the vice-president of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with the Outside world

On Tuesday, June 4, 2024, the Senate Speaker, Right Honourable Emmanuel Sinzohagera received in audience the Vice-President of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with the outside world (APCAE), Mr. Jiang Jiang in the Palace of the Senate, in Gitega, the political capital of Burundi.

Shortly after the meeting, the spokesperson for the Speaker of the Senate, Mr. Ladislas Niyiragira indicated that the objective of his mission was to strengthen the already existing relations of cooperation and friendship between Burundi and the People’s Republic of China.

He noted that the Right Honourable Speaker of the Senate greatly appreciated this mission, which allowed Mr. Jiang Jiang to take notice of the true version of the situation prevailing in Burundi, contrary to some defamatory information circulating on social media.

He explained that the Speaker of the Upper House of Burundi Parliament informed his host that Burundi will soon be made up of five provinces, and invited APCAE to play the leading role in the twinning of each province with a province of the People’s Republic of China.

This visitor was accompanied by members of the CABASCO association (China Alumni Burundian Association for Sustainable Cooperation) made up of Burundians who studied in China.
