The Senate Speaker satisfied with Sangwe-Kanyunya cooperative’s potato harvest

On Tuesday, January 26, 2021, on Kanyunya hill, Rukina zone of Mukike commune, in Bujumbura province, the Senate Speaker, Right Honorable Emmanuel SINZOHAGERA, joined the members of the Sangwe-Kanyunya cooperative in the harvesting work of potatoes.

In his address to the population of Mukike in general and members of Sangwe-Kanyunya cooperative in particular, Right Honorable SINZOHAGERA expressed his satisfaction with the good harvest of those potatoes.

Right Honorable SINZOHAGERA returned to the genesis of Sangwe project initiated by the Burundian Government where he reminded that people of bad faithencouraged others not to join that project judged to belong to the party on power, while the project had no other aim than that of helping all Burundians to fight against poverty.

Thus, he expressed his feelings of joy at the success of that great project of Sangwe cooperatives all over the country.

In addition, the Speaker of the Upper House of Parliament congratulated the members of the afore-mentioned cooperative, its president at the same time a native of Kanyunya hill, the administrator of Mukike commune and the natives of that commune for their effective involvement in the promotion of that project.

He encouraged them to go ahead and continue to act as models for those who are still dragging their feet.

Right Honorable SINZOHAGERA provided advice to the people of Mukike calling on them to take advantage of the 10,000,000 BIF loan granted to the hills by the Government, and use them for useful purposes.

Like agriculture, he urged her to take more interest in livestock farming in order to have sufficient manure and milk to fight against certain diseases linked to malnutrition.

The Senate Speaker informed the population present that a law governing grassroots jurisdiction will soon come into force and that law will greatly contribute to reliable justice. “So it justifies the awareness to build offices for chiefs of villages that will also serve as offices for village notables,” he added.
