The Senate Speaker urges residents of Gitega to join efforts to self-develop

On Saturday, September 12, 2020, Right Honorable Emmanuel Sinzohagera, Speaker of the Senate, along with his wife and other senior officials of the Senate, joined the population of Gitega commune and province in the concreting activities around the Ingoma Stadium in Gitega.

By the end of activities, Right Honorable Sinzohagera, in his speech, urged the inhabitants of that locality to combine their efforts to self-develop while imitating the slogan of the Head of State “Together we can’’.

He called on everyone to continue to preserve peace and security, to fight against laziness by attending to income-generating activities, to fight drug consumption, banditry, etc.

The Speaker of the Upper House of Parliament thanked those who worked hard to make Gitega the political capital of the country. In this regard, he made a rousing appeal to the inhabitants of that area to work diligently to promote integral development. Then, he encouraged them to join cooperatives and other projects of community interest.

In addition, Right Honorable Sinzohagera called on the administrative authorities to be truly responsible in the performance of the missions entrusted to them. He therefore advised them to help widows and vulnerable people, to properly manage social infrastructure, etc.

He also advised the population of Gitega to protect themselves against Covid-19 by respecting hygiene measures. Finally, he promised the inhabitants of Gitega to continue to support them in all the development activities they are going to organize.
