In the afternoon of this Sunday, September 22, 2024, the Senate Speaker, Right Honourable Emmanuel Sinzohagera returned from a working mission to South Africa in MIDRAND, headquarters of the Pan-African Parliament, where he participated in the twelfth conference of Speakers of African Parliaments.
The theme of this conference was: Educating an Africa fit for the 21st century: “building resilient education systems for increased access to inclusive, lifelong, quality and relevant learning in Africa. »
In addition to this theme, other topics were developed. They were mainly related to the progress, challenges and perspectives of the African Union’s Agenda 2063, health, the implementation of the continental free trade area, the fight against monkey pox and future pandemics, institutional reforms of the African Union, etc.
Concerning education, Right Honourable SINZOHAGERA said that participants noted that there are several challenges to be met and, adding that they called for the establishment of a programme specific to Africa and the development of artificial intelligence.
