On Saturday, December 10, 2022, the Speaker of the Senate, Right Honourable Emmanuel Sinzohagera, joined the population of Isare commune of Bujumbura province in the construction of an extension of the communal hotel.
After having praised the efforts made by the administrator of the commune for his various achievements both in the agricultural or educational sector, the Senate speaker reminded the population that the country is made up of all Burundians, a the reason why they must ensure the protection of public infrastructures and that they are responsible for the development of their commune.
He also thanked the communal commissioner for the way he fights against the prohibited drink commonly called “kanyanga”; he said that the seizure of this drink from a certain village will automatically result in the dismissal of the chief of that village because these drinks are the source of insecurity while harming development.
To end his speech, the Speaker of the Upper Chamber of the Parliament recalled that the mission of village notables is to reconcile the population.
Furthermore, he urged them to read carefully the text that governs them in order to conform and manage conflicts.
