On Sunday January 17, 2021, the Senate Speaker, Right Honorable Emmanuel Sinzohagera, accompanied with a senator elected in the constituency of Gitega and some administrative officials of that province, joined believers of the United Methodist Church of Nyabugogo located in Gitega commune, for a Sunday prayer.
During that prayer, Right Honorable Sinzohagera, in his remarks, reminded Christians of that Church to continue to prevent themselves against Covid-19 pandemic by respecting the barrier measures recommended to them by the health services, in particular to frequently wash their hands with clean water and soap.
With this in mind, he asked them not to be afraid but rather continue to deal with daily activities and avoid disseminating alarming and false information in connection with that pandemic.
In addition, the Senate Speaker called upon the believers of the United Methodist Church to abide by the slogan of the President of the Republic which states: “In the fight against poverty, let us unite and work with assiduity.”
He then urged them to buckle down to development activities in order to have a surplus that will allow them to help orphans, widows and the elderly.
The Speaker of the Upper House of Parliament also called on them to be united and avoid anything that could divide them so that they could develop their Church.
Finally, he shared with Christians the word available in psalms 152: 2, and wished them the divine protection.
