The Senate Speaker and Legal Representative of the United Methodist Church in Burundi, Right Honuorable Emmanuel Sinzohagera, accompanied by a senator elected in the city of Bujumbura, joined the faithful of the United Methodist Church in Burundi, Rohero parish , in Mukaza commune, Bujumbura Town , on Sunday, March 24, 2024, in prayer for the celebration of Palm Sunday.
In his preaching, Right Honourable Sinzohagera focused on certain holy scriptures, notably the Gospel according to Saint Luke 6: 38, the epistle of Saint Paul to the Galatians 6:7, and Genesis 8:22.
He reminded them of the principle of sowing and harvesting, and invited them to show love for their neighbour, by doing good so that their reward could also be good. “We will measure you with the measure you use,” he said.
The Speaker of the Upper House of the Parliament explained to them that Palm Sunday reminds Christians of the solemn entry of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem. He exhorted them to be servants of Jesus Christ, letting him enter and touch their hearts, and welcoming peace he brings them. He urged them to be characterized by docility, patience, divine joy and repentance.
Also participating in this prayer were the Chief of Staff of the Mayor of the city, the administrator of the commune Mukaza as well as some senior officials of the Senate.
