A delegation of senators led by the Speaker of the Senate, Right Honourable Emmanuel Sinzohagera accompanied by his wife; his two deputies and the Secretary General of the CNDD-FDD party, visited the city of Kigoma, in the United Republic of Tanzania, from September 23 to 24, 2022.
In the morning on Friday, September 23, these elected officials made an excursion to a memorial site in Ujiji where Dr Livingstone and Henry Morton Stanley met on November 10,1871.
Shortly after, they went to the new port, under construction, at the site of Kibirizi where the senators contemplated a large number of fishing boats, passenger transport, goods and services from or to Burundi, DRC and Zambia.
In the evening, these authorities met in the enclosures of “Mwitongo Garden Hotel” to share a drink with some authorities of Kigoma province led by the Governor of this province, Mr. Thobias Ande Ngenye. The latter praised the good fraternal relations and cooperation existing between the Burundian and Tanzanian peoples, and expressed the wish to continue to consolidate them further.
The next day, the senators took part in the construction of the new office in floors for the Consulate of the Republic of Burundi based in Kigoma. This work consisted of bringing the concrete closer to the construction site.
This visit is part of celebrating the past two years during which the senators elected for the 2020-2025 legislature fully exercise their missions.
