During the recess, on July 13, 2022, the Second Deputy Speaker of the Senate, Honourable Cyriaque Nshimirimana, accompanied by some parliamentarians elected in Ruyigi constituency, met with administrative staff and technicians, in the chief-town of Nyabitsinda commune, to discuss the progress of the ongoing water supply project ensuring the networks of Ruyigi, Nyabitsinda and Kinyinya.
Honourable Nshimirimana first visited the water pipes and the water distribution tanks under construction, which will supply the different localities. He found that some water pipes pass in the households of the population in Kirungu and Vumwe villages.
Citizens met on the scene expressed their fear linked to the probability to lack water. On this subject, the Second Deputy-Speaker of the Senate reassured them that they will benefit from it before the end of the work. For the water pipes passing through households, he asked for a list of the houses through which the pipes pass in order to look into this issue.
Honourable Nshimirimana continued his journey in Kinyinya commune to visit the development of Rugoma marsh where he found that the marsh is not properly exploited while its provisional acceptance had been made in the month of May of this year.
To this end, the second deputy Speaker of the Senater asked the PNSADR-IM infrastructure expert and the head of the BPAE to spare no effort so that the marsh be sufficiently exploited, as much as this marsh has been developed at a colossal sum of around 3 billion Burundian francs. He also expressed the wish to organize training for the owners of the land located in this marsh.
