YOUNG CHRISTIANS INVITED TO DISASSOCIATE THEMSELVES FROM WHOEVER SEEKS TO TARNISH THE IMAGE OF BURUNDI

On Wednesday, August 11, 2021, the Right Honourablde Emmanuel SINZOHAGERA, Senate Speaker, enhanced with his presence the Congress of young Christians which was held in Gitega at Lycée Notre Dame de la Sagesse premises. He spoke on the theme: “to love and serve his country in the fear of God”.

This Congress which was attended by more than 200 young people was organized by ”Campus for Christ” Association, from 9 to 14 August 2021.

In his presentation, to show that even the law requires loving and serving his country, the Right Honorable SINZOHAGERA insisted a lot on the articles 62, 65, 66, 67, 68 and 72 of the Constitution which require every citizen to love and serve their country.

Thus, the Senate Speaker urged those young people to recognize their duties towards their families. He called on them to love their compatriots, to respect the laws and the authorities, to be concerned with the country’s development, to preserve cultural values and to defend the territory’s independence and integrity.

He also invited them to be proud of their nationality, to disassociate themselves from anyone who would seek to tarnish the image of Burundi, to protect the environment, and to get involved in the country’s development by preaching good examples as Christians.
