On Thursday, November 6, 2025, the Senate Speaker, Right Honourable Gervais Ndirakobuca, received in audience, in Bujumbura, Ms. Emma N’Gouan Anoh and Ms. Zhao Jiangping, respectively the UNDP Resident Representative and the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Burundi.
Following the audience, Ms. N’Gouan indicated that her discussion with the Right Honourable Ndirakobuca focused on strengthening the partnership between the UNDP and the Senate. She also indicated that their exchanges focused on supporting Burundi Senate in fulfilling its missions, particularly the implementation of the decentralization policy and the realization of Burundi’s vision of becoming an emerging country by 2040 and a developed country by 2060.
The Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Burundi stated that she was there for a farewell visit. Ms. Zhao Jiangping added that the meeting also addressed strengthening cooperation between the Senate of Burundi and the Chinese legislative body in the fields of government action control and development promotion.
