The Senate Speaker, Right Honorable Emmanuel Sinzohagera, joined the population of Bujumbura province on Wednesday, September 16, 2020, to welcome the peace flame 2020, 14th edition, at the border of Kanyosha commune of that province and Muha commune of Bujumbura city.
After welcoming that peace flame, they headed to Kiyenzi zone of Kanyosha commune where they carried out construction works at IRARO Basic School. Those works consisted of mixing the concrete.
Shortly afterwards, those who were accompanying the peace flame went to Karunga hill, in Benga zone of Isare commune where the Senate Speaker proceeded to the launching of the construction works of a modern football stadium called “La Revolution”. That site will also host a luxury hotel which will serve to accommodate a large number of visitors.
In his speech, Right Honorable Sinzohagera, called on the inhabitants of Bujumbura province to change their mind to develop and love their homeland. “Let’s roll up our sleeves and work hard to develop ourselves,” he said.
He urged inhabitants of that locality to preserve the hard-won peace and security. In this regard, the Speaker of the Upper House of Parliament asked the population of that province to unmask the criminals who want to disrupt peace, basis of development.
The Senate Speaker reminded the representatives of the population to the village level to strengthen the tetralogy and to inform the competent authorities whenever there are cases of suspected criminals.
Finally, he reminded the population of that locality to protect themselves against Covid-19 by respecting hygiene measures.
During that peace flame caravan, the Senate Speaker was accompanied by the Governor of Bujumbura province, Désiré Nsengiyumva; parliamentarians elected in that constituency; administrative authorities; the natives of the province and a large number of people from that province as well as the team carrying that peace flame.
