On the occasion of the celebration of the 32nd anniversary of the Charter of National Unity, the President of the Senate, Right Honourable Emmanuel Sinzohagera, accompanied by his wife, enhanced with his presence the ceremonies which took place at the monument of the National Unity, in Bujumbura City, on February 06, 2023.
The members of the Bureau of the Senate also took part in these ceremonies, certain parliamentarians elected in the constituency of Bujumbura, members of the National Council for National Unity and Reconciliation, representatives of the defense and security corps, religious denominations and political parties approved in Burundi, the administrative authorities of the said district and a large population of this locality and the surrounding area.
As representative of the President of the Republic of Burundi, the Right Honourable Sinzohagera laid a wreath at the monument of National Unity and delivered the circumstantial speech on behalf of His Excellency Evariste Ndayishimiye.
Right Honourable Emmanuel Sinzohagera reminded the participants that article 289 of the Constitution of the Republic of Burundi grants a period of 5 years to the Senate to evaluate in order to end or extend the ethnic quota system in the Executive, the Legislative and the Judiciary after the establishment of the Institutions resulting from this Constitution. To this end, he asked all Burundians to give their contribution so that this mission prescribed by the Constitution should be accomplished.
