The Senate Speaker, the Right Honourable Gervais NDIRAKOBUCA, continued his tour this Thursday, October 2, 2025, in Bujumbura Province, where he met with councillors, heads of departments, and district heads of Bubanza commune to discuss about decentralization and respect for the law.
In his presentation, the Right Honourable NDIRAKOBUCA explained why the Senate must closely monitor communal management. He also demonstrated that local elected officials are accountable to the people. Discussions then focused on the participants’ concerns.
The Deputy Speakers of the Senate met with the communal councillors and local administrative of Bugendana and Makamba, respectively, to discuss about decentralization and the Senate’s monitoring of local authorities.
Meetings between senators and communal councillors and local administrative were also organized in Muhanga, Cankuzo, Karusi, and Mukaza communes under the leadership of the senators.
On the sidelines of this meeting in Bubanza commune, the Senate Speaker provided notebooks to 208 students from ECOFO Bubanza I. Each student received five notebooks. He also urged the students to love their teachers and follow their advises.
For her part, the First Deputy Speaker of the Senate, Honourable Générose NGENDANGANYA, provided notebooks to 300 vulnerable students from Pierre Nkurunziza Technical High School located on Mwurire Village in Bugendana commune, Gitega province.
