The Senate Speaker Participates in the Silver Jubilee Celebration of the episcopate of Bujumbura Archbishop

On Saturday, September 20, 2025, the Senate Speaker, His Excellency Gervais Ndirakobuca, accompanied by the Second Deputy speaker of the Senate, Honourable Clotilde Kampimbare, participated in the celebration of the silver jubilee of the episcopate of His Excellency Archbishop Gervais Banshimiyubusa of Bujumbura.

This event, which was enhanced by the presence of His Excellency Evariste Ndayishimiye, President of the Republic, and his wife, took place at the Regina Mundi Cathedral in Mukaza commune of Bujumbura Province.

In his sermon during the Mass of Thanksgiving, the Archbishop of Bujumbura reminded the congregation that God created humankind with a specific mission. He asked them to reflect on whether they are fulfilling their own unique mission. He emphasized that God calls them to be characterized by love for their neighbour. On this same occasion, His Excellency Archbishop Banshimiyubusa officially inaugurated the 2025-2026 pastoral year.

This event was also attended by several high-ranking government officials, including the Vice President of the Republic, the Prime Minister, members of the parliament, and many others, as well as a huge crowd of Christians from various provinces of the country.
